Configure Wi-Fi via the Charge Amps Partner Portal
Modified on Fri, 13 Mar at 3:25 PM
This guide describes how installers can configure Wi-Fi directly via the Charge Amps Partner Portal, without using the charger’s local interface (LMI). This makes it possible to change which network the charger should connect to directly from the Partner Portal.
The method works by letting the charger automatically connect to a temporary network created from a mobile hotspot, which brings the charger online in the portal. Once the charger is online, the correct Wi-Fi credentials can be entered via the portal.
Prerequisites
All Charge Amps chargers are preconfigured to automatically attempt to connect to the following networks during startup:
| Product | SSID | Password |
|---|---|---|
| Halo / Aura | caconfig | ca12345678 |
| Dawn | dawnconfig | dawnconfig |
| Luna | lunaconfig | lunaconfig |
When the charger is restarted, it will temporarily attempt to connect to these networks.
For this to work, the following conditions must be met:
• No LAN cable may be connected to the charger (applies to all models except Luna).
• You need to be close to the charger with your mobile device.
• The charger must have been restarted recently (within approximately 5 minutes).
Step 1 – Create a mobile hotspot
Create a mobile hotspot with the correct network name and password so the charger can connect to it.
iPhone (Halo / Aura – caconfig)
Go to Settings on your iPhone.
Tap General.
Tap About.
Change the phone name to caconfig (lowercase).
Go back to Settings.
Tap Personal Hotspot.
Change the Wi-Fi password to ca12345678.
Enable Maximize Compatibility.
Enable Allow Others to Join.
If the function is already enabled, disable it and enable it again.Restart the charger via the circuit breaker.
Verify that the charger receives the status Online in the portal or in the app.
Android (Halo / Aura – caconfig)
Open Settings.
Tap Tethering and portable hotspot.
Tap Mobile Hotspot.
Select Configure Mobile Hotspot.
Change the network name to caconfig.
Change the password to ca12345678.
Tap Save.
Ensure the hotspot uses 2.4 GHz under AP band.
Start the mobile hotspot.
Restart the charger via the circuit breaker.
Verify that the charger receives the status Online in the portal or in the app.
Dawn / Luna
For Dawn and Luna, use the following credentials instead:
Dawn
SSID: dawnconfig
Password: dawnconfig
Luna
SSID: lunaconfig
Password: lunaconfig
Create the hotspot using the same steps as above, but use these credentials instead.
Step 2 – Enter the correct Wi-Fi in the Partner Portal
Once the charger has connected to the hotspot and shows the status Online, the correct Wi-Fi credentials can be added via the portal.
Open the relevant charger.
Click Charger settings.
Under Wi-Fi settings, enter:
• Wi-Fi SSID
• Wi-Fi password
Save the settings.
When the charger restarts, it will connect to the configured network instead of the hotspot.
Common issues
The charger does not come online
Check the following:
• The hotspot uses the correct SSID and password.
• The hotspot is broadcasting on 2.4 GHz.
• The charger has been restarted recently.
• You are close to the charger with your phone.
• No LAN cable is connected (except for Luna).
When should this method be used?
This method is particularly useful when:
• The charger’s LMI is not accessible
• The installer wants to configure the network directly via the portal
• The charger needs a temporary internet connection for configuration
